Arkansas PROMISE (Promoting the Readiness of Minors in Supplemental Security Income) is a research grant seeking to improve educational and employment outcomes for youth SSI recipients. The U.S. Department of Education awarded the grant to Arkansas in Oct 2013. The University of Arkansas is working with several state agencies and other private organizations to provide a coordinated set of services, two paid work experiences and intensive case management to 1,000 youth over the next five years. An additional 1,000 youth will be assigned to a control group. Outcomes will be evaluated during and after the five-year grant period.
