Presenter: Carri George, Senior Project Manager, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS)

Description: Explore the core components of a successful grant proposal in this introductory webinar. We’ll consider the importance of understanding the funding source and request for proposal, writing a compelling narrative, establishing clear goals and measurable objectives, and developing a realistic budget.

About the Presenter: Carri George is a Senior Project Manager at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), where she coordinates the development and submission of community health and research grant proposals. Since 2021, she has collaborated on UAMS teams to create, write, and edit grant proposals that secured more than $46 million for community health projects and community-based participatory research. Before joining UAMS, Ms. George worked for 18 years at the University of Arkansas (UA). While at UA, she served as lead writer and facilitator for the $32-million PROMISE (Promoting Readiness of Minors in Supplemental Security Income) research grant to help low-income youth achieve education and employment outcomes. Most of her 40-year career has focused on access for and inclusion of people with disabilities and other populations experiencing disparities.
